Upright folio, 32.5 x 24 cm, half calf binding with marbled paper over board. The front cover includes a red morocco label, gilt stamped "SONGS." The front cover also features a later ink stamp, "Chawton House, Alton, Hants." The inside front cover includes a 20th-century printed paper label "Jane Austen's House/ Chawton Hampshire." The inside front cover includes a manuscript index in the same hand as the indices to CHWJA/19/4, CHWJA/19/5 and CHWJA/19/7. The first flyleaf is signed "Jane Austen."
The book contains printed editions of vocal music published between c.1770 and c.1783. Unlike other binder's volumes in the collection that were made up from a large number of separate items, this volume includes two sets of Scots songs (including 30 and 26 items respectively) and other multi-item prints.
